Ten people have been arrested in Sydney’s inner west over the alleged supply of the drug ice.
Police raided six properties in public housing estates in Camperdown, Leichhardt and Rosebery, seizing cash, ammunition, stolen mail, heroin and cannabis.
The 10 offenders have been charged with more than 27 counts of supply of the drug methamphetamine.
Eight people, including five men and three women were arrested within one unit complex in Camperdown.
Detective Superintendant Paul Pisanos of the Leichhardt Local Area Command said the arrests came as the result of Operation Boyla which has been operated by the Leichhardt LAC since February.
He said the investigation had been conducted in public housing estates and targeted the distribution and supply of methamphetamine, using covert and overt methods of policing as well as information from the public obtained through Crime Stoppers.
Ongoing investigation into methamphetamine supply
Detective Superintendant Pisanos said the supply of ice in public housing was affecting vulnerable people.
“Methamphetamine finds its place in communities, certainly in places like public housing and estates in areas of Sydney, there are a lot of vulnerable people,” he said.
“Some of the most affected people have been the most vulnerable people in the community.
“Ideally we like to think this does have an impact, but Operation Boyla is ongoing.
“We will continue to target the supply of ice right through the community.”
