Ice: The Scourge Of Regional Australia – Ray Martin reports

ray-martin-ice-the-scourge-of-regional-australiaIf you missed it last night, you should watch this hard-hitting report by Ray Martin on the increasing problems caused by methamphetamine in our community, especially in rural Australia.

Meth use in rural regions has increased 150% since 2007 compared with only 16% in metropolitan areas. This has lead to an exponential increase in drug-related crime such as street violence, domestic violence, burglaries, drug dealing and manufacture, as well as the other anti-social behaviours associated with drug-fuelled users.

But it’s not just meth-related crime that’s affecting the communities where it’s become so common. There is also the massive increase in depression, suicides, family break-ups, and accidental deaths as more and more locals become hooked on this insidious drug.
