Description
D4D PenTest provides an presumptive test for trace residue from over ten illegal drug types, including methamphetamine and several of the precursor compounds used in the manufacture of meth.
Designed for law enforcement and border protection, and used by agencies in USA, Germany, Israel, and China to name a few, the D4D PenTest has only been available for non-government use since 2014.
This DIY test kit is inexpensive, simple-to-use and can be easily be used by anyone who has an interest in determining whether a surface has been contaminated by an illicit substance.
Compared to other indicator test products which require several steps and can then take up to 5 minutes to give a result, the D4D PenTest gives you an accurate result in just a few seconds.
We recommend that the following areas of a house be tested to ensure the best chance of detecting drug residue throughout the property:
- Kitchen
- Lounge and dining areas
- All bedrooms
- Laundry, bathrooms and toilets
- Garage
- Sheds and workshops
One D4D PenTest kit per room is recommended. For larger rooms, two kits may be required to ensure thorough testing.
The D4D PenTest kit is highly sensitive and will detect minute traces for the following drugs:
- Methamphetamine
- Ecstasy (MDMA)
- Marijuana/hashish
- Amphetamine
- PCP
- Heroin
- Opiates
- LSD
- Ketamine
Each D4D PenTest kit consists of a pen containing the substance activator, two sample collection wipes and instruction sheet.

BLP –
I was surprised how easy this was to use. I tested 4 rooms in my rental property and am happy to say that it tested negative. Thats a load off my mind for just $80.
Luke –
I used the test kits last weekend, the results did not indicate a meth contamination.
Overall the kits were easy to use, though i found that it was essential to use the control sample to provide accurate comparison, i feel that an inexperienced user (like myself) would easily diagnose a false positive if they didn’t use a control sample.
On one of the test pens the whole top came off the pen when i tried to remove the lid which was a little bit messy and ended up with more then two drops on the test paper as advised on the instructions, i found that the best way to uncap the pen was to hold the top of the pen while while removing the cap.
The areas that i tested were walls, cupboards, vents and surfaces. As the house was recently renovated i concentrated on areas that appeared not to have been “refreshed” in the renovation, fly screens, bench tops, heating and extraction vents and light switches. the majority of the results showed no exposure.
I did get one or two “red dots” from some dust on the bathroom extraction fan test these were small which made them hard to interpret but were closest to the Marijuana indication in colour. Overall i feel you have a great product.

I used the D4D kit last week, on a my rental property. Kit was easy to use, keeping one sample as a control, second sample used on lounge/kitchen area – a/c vents, ceiling fan, high up on walls. Negative result
I also tested with second D4D kit – bathroom, bedrms and laundry areas. Again using one sample as a control and the other to swab A/c, fans, high up on walls. Negative result.
I’m pleased to report.
(The property was clean, no stains or discolorations present to test)
Hope to incorporate it into the tenancy agreement, to have periodic D4D testing of property. As a landlord my concern is the use of methamphetamine in the property as it can cause damage to the property (very expensive to clean or replace walls, fixtures , etc…$$$$$$) as well as can cause health issues for any tenants renting it, I would rather be proactive for the safety of potential tenants and looking to safeguard my investment. At a small outlay now, hopefully saving me in the long run.
